Vancouver typically has very good air quality thanks to its coastal location and ocean winds that help disperse pollutants. However, wildfire smoke from British Columbia and nearby regions can occasionally cause poor AQI days, especially in late summer.
For most of the year, Vancouver’s AQI remains in the “Good” range, making it one of the cleaner large cities in North America. Sensitive groups should monitor conditions during wildfire season when fine particulate matter (PM2.5) can temporarily spike.
